What's meal planning?
Meal planning is asking "What's for dinner?" once for the whole week or two, instead of every night, then shopping for and preparing the ingredients before cooking. When done well, this method will save you money.
Meal planning is a lot of work!
FALSE! You do a bit of work up front, but it goes smoother once you begin to work on your
plan. Plus, you can customize your meals.
Not quite sure where to start?
Follow these 3 simple and easy steps .
1. Select your dinners and their recipes.
2. Shop for ingredients.
3. Prepare those ingredients.
What do you need?
*Are you looking for variety?
*To save money?
*Eat better?
*Prevent food waste?
*Have a quick answer when your family asks, "What's for dinner?"
DECISIONS! DECISIONS!
What do you want to cook? How many nights do you want to make dinner at home?
5 nights is the most common.
Where do you get those recipes?
Google :D At Carm's Kitchen, we certainly hope you find what you're looking for. Check out our Recipe Page for inspiration. Sites like Pinterest, cooking sites, and of course cookbooks are there for resources.
Rules for Picking the Right Recipes
1.. Choose meals that bless you with left overs.
2. Cook recipes you know and one new recipe. Make a masterlist of recipes you know by heart and that your family loves. Then, surprise them with a new recipe each week.
3. Pick recipes based on common ingredients. Pantry and foods you already have in the fridge. This can help avoid wasted food. AND.... money saver!!!
4. Cook foods you really want to eat.
